| ODC Nimbus provides a comprehensive training program
for operators, technicians, and supervisory staff.
This training is typically included as part of the
purchase of an ODC Nimbus mastering system, and enables
the customer to quickly get into full production
with limited prior knowledge of optical disc mastering
equipment or processes. ODC Nimbus provides the following
training programs.
INITIAL TRAINING (Operator
Level)
Mastering Systems Technology
- Part 1
In this training session, attendees are familiarized
with the fundamentals of CD/DVD technology and
manufacturing, the basic operation of specific
ODC Nimbus equipment, and the process steps necessary
to produce metallized glass masters. Typically
this training takes place for one full week at
the ODC Nimbus facility in Santa Fe Springs, California
prior to installing mastering equipment in your
facility. In some instances training classes can
be held at customers facilities.
SECONDARY TRAINING (Process
Technician Level)
Mastering Systems Technology
- Part 2
During the optimization phase of your mastering
equipment installation, ODC Nimbus provides a hands-on
process and equipment training session for supervisory
and engineering staff. The objective of the optimization
training is to determine the best overall operating
conditions for producing consistently high quality
replicas with the widest possible operating window.
To determine the initial operating conditions,
several sets of masters are recorded and processed
into replicas. This on-site training enables the
customer’s own staff to determine when and
how process adjustments should be made.
ADVANCED TECHNICAL WORKSHOPS
(Engineer Level)
For current ODC Nimbus mastering equipment customers,
we offer a comprehensive set of optional technical
workshops that provide more advanced equipment
training for engineering maintenance, process and
operator personnel. The main goal of these workshops
is to enable customers to become 90% self- sufficient
in both process and equipment maintenance. The
courses are scheduled once or twice each year,
and are held at the ODC Nimbus facility in
Santa Fe Springs, California.
ODC LaserWave Maintenance
Workshop
Maintenance engineers who have been using their
LaserWave Mastering System for one year benefit
from this intensive 5-day workshop, where they
learn a high level of self-sufficiency in the routine
maintenance of their Laser Wave mastering equipment.
As part of the workshop, engineers gain valuable
experience by participating in preventative maintenance
and process review (PM/PR) visits with ODC Nimbus field
engineers.
ODC Advanced Process
Workshop
ODC offers regularly scheduled Advanced Process
Workshops designed to train process engineers in
the details and interrelationships of CD technology,
dye polymer recording theory, and mastering process
optimization and control. All new customers are
encouraged to send their process engineers to the
workshop immediately after final acceptance is
completed to allow participation in the preventative
maintenance and process review visits. This 4-day
workshop can be held and completed at the customer's
production facility.
